Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a glass substrate for a magnetic disk, the method capable of performing stable grinding processing with increased processing speed in grinding processing using fixed abrasive grains, and manufacturing a high-quality glass substrate. In the present invention, the correlation between the average distances between fixed abrasive grains on the grinding surfaces of fixed abrasive grain grinding wheels and processing speeds when a mirror surface-shaped glass substrate surface is subjected to grinding processing using the fixed abrasive grain grinding wheels is obtained in advance, a fixed abrasive grain grinding wheel having an average distance between abrasive grains at which a desired processing speed is obtained is selected on the basis of the obtained correlation, and grinding processing treatment is performed using the selected fixed abrasive grain grinding wheel.
