Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a heat accumulator, comprising depositing additive material layers. An additive material includes a thermal material. The method further comprises joining the additive material layers to each other. After the joining of the additive material layers, the heat accumulator comprises a heat accumulator body, the heat accumulator body extending longitudinally between a hot end and a cold end. A working fluid may flow through the heat accumulator body between the hot end and the cold end of the heat accumulator body. The additive material layers are deposited such that one, or two, or more of the cross-sectional area of the heat accumulator body, the void ratio of the heat accumulator body, the feature size of the thermal material, and the composition of the thermal material varies along the length of the heat accumulator body between the hot end and the cold end of the heat accumulator body.
