The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing, at low cost, a heat and corrosion resistant magnet used to achieve a rotating electric machine that can be suitably used even under high temperature and high corrosive environments such as in oil-well drilling. A method for manufacturing a heat and corrosion resistant magnet according to the present invention is a method for manufacturing a magnet in which the exterior of a magnet body is coated with corrosion resistant metal, the method comprising: a magnetic powder loading step for housing a cup-shaped container made of the corrosion resistant metal in a press die and loading magnetic powder forming the magnetic body in the cup-shaped container; a temporary compact forming step for uniaxially pressing the magnetic powder in the cup-shaped container to form a temporary compact of the magnetic body; a cup-shaped container closing step for closing the cup-shaped container so as to wrap the temporary compact; a sintering and integrating step for subjecting the closed cup-shaped container to hot isostatic pressing to simultaneously perform the formation of the magnetic body involving sintering the temporary compact and the integration of the magnetic body and the coating; and a magnetizing step for magnetizing the sintered and integrated magnetic body such that the magnetic body is permanently magnetized.
