Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing a hub unit for a drive wheel, with which it is possible to improve both precision of detecting the rotation speed of a vehicle wheel and the precision of molding a spline formed in the inner peripheral surface of an inner shaft. A hub unit intermediate (60) is prepared, the hub unit intermediate (60) being provided with an inner shaft (61), an inner ring (14) fixed to one end of the inner shaft (61), and an outer ring (16) disposed so as to be capable of rotating relative to the inner shaft (61) and the inner ring (14) (step S1). A magnetic seal member (62) is prepared, the magnetic seal member (62) being provided with a seal member (22A) and an annular magnetic member (62B) in which no magnetic poles are formed (step S2). The magnetic seal member (62) is fixed between the inner ring (14) and the outer ring (16) (step S3). The inner peripheral surface of the inner shaft (61) is cut to form splines (26) in the inner peripheral surface of the inner shaft (61), the splines (26) extending along the axial direction (step S4). In the hub unit intermediate (60) in which the plurality of splines (26) are formed, a plurality of magnetic poles are formed in the circumferential direction of the annular magnetic member (62B) (step S5).
