Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a light-colored refined tall oil rosin, said method including a distillation step in which an unrefined tall oil rosin is distilled in the presence of activated carbon. Also, a method for manufacturing a tall oil rosin ester, said method including a rosin manufacturing step in which a light-colored refined tall oil rosin is manufactured via the abovementioned method and an esterification step in which the refined tall oil rosin obtained in the rosin manufacturing step is made to undergo an esterification reaction with an alcohol. Said method for manufacturing a tall oil rosin ester further includes an antioxidant addition step, during or after the esterification step, in which at least one antioxidant selected from the group consisting of sulfur-based organic compounds, thiophosphite-based organic compounds, and phosphorus-based antioxidants is added.
