Abstract:
An externally exposed joint surface is not left on a final product despite the product being manufactured by superplastic forming.
A method of manufacturing a front edge member of a fan blade, the front edge member having a geometrical shape, includes steps of: superplastically forming, using a combination of a first mold having a gas route and a second mold having a female mold cavity, a plate material into a shape conforming to the shape of the female mold cavity by pressurizing the plate material by gas introduced through the route; joining a backing material to the superplastically formed plate material; and cutting the periphery of the plate material to obtain the shape of a product.
