Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a mold for cold working use which satisfies minimum available hardness for use as a mold for cold working use and has excellent adhesion to a hard coating film, said method being achieved using a prehardened steel.
A method for manufacturing a mold for cold working use, which comprises the steps of: quenching and tempering a steel material containing, in mass%, 0.6 to 1.2% inclusive of C and 3.0 to 9.0% inclusive of Cr to prepare a prehardened steel having hardness of 55 HRC or more; machining the prepared prehardened steel to form a mold working surface; nitriding the machined working surface; and coating the nitrided working surface with a hard coating film by a physical vapor deposition method.
