Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing optical members which is intended to make the optical member resistant to variations in chromaticity caused with use. The method is applicable to manufacturing of a prism sheet (23c) which is an optical member (23). The prism sheet (23c) is used in a backlighting device (12) for supplying light to a liquid crystal panel (11) and transmits light from an LED (24) which is a light source included in the backlighting device (12). The method includes a chromaticity stabilizing step of illuminating the prism sheet (23c) with a beam of light emitted from a chromaticity stabilizing LED (32) in order to stabilize the chromaticity of light to be transmitted from the prism sheet (23c), the LED (32) being a chromaticity stabilizing light source with the dominant emission wavelength falling within a blue wavelength band.
