Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing a packaged coffee beverage in which the flavour and aroma that are unique to Robusta are minimised. It was discovered that a packaged coffee beverage in which the flavour and aroma that are unique to Robusta are minimised is obtained when: a roasted coffee bean extract and a fine powder (insoluble coffee powder) of roasted coffee beans pulverised to a specific particle size are combined such that the concentration of diterpene compounds (cafestol and kahweol) that are unique to coffee and are contained in a prepared liquid for the packaged beverage is within a specific range; and the prepared liquid is heat sterilised.
