Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an R-T-B series sintered magnet comprises a step of preparing an R-T-B series sintered magnet material which is represented by a formula: uRwBxGayCuzAlqM (100-u-w-x-y-z-q) T, where RH is equal to or less than 5% by mass of the R-T-B series sintered magnet and 29.5 ≤ u ≤ 32.0, 0.86 ≤ w ≤ 0.93, 0.2 ≤ x ≤ 1.0, 0.3 ≤ y ≤ 1.0, 0.05 ≤ z ≤ 0.5, 0 ≤ q ≤ 0.1, and wherein the relation P < 0 is satisfied when P = [B] / 10.811 × 14 − [Fe] / 55.847 − [Co] / 58.933, and a heat treatment step wherein the R-T-B series sintered magnet material is heated within a range of four hours to twelve hours at a temperature between 450°C and 470°C, inclusive.
