Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a rubber hose (10) reinforced by helically arranged steel cords (12). The rubber hose (10) is provided with an inner tube (11), an outer tube (24), and a laminated reinforcing layer (14) provided between the inner and outer tubes. The reinforcing layer (14) is prepared by overlaying unit layers (90-96) on each other. To form the reinforcing layer (14), a composite strip material (26) is formed by embedding reinforcing steel cords (12) in a not-yet-vulcanized rubber strip (38) so as to extend in the longitudinal direction thereof and then the strip material (26) is helically wound around the inner tube (11) and vulcanized to form the reinforcing layer (14). Each of unit layers (90-96) is constructed from the composite strip material (26) having a single continuous form, and each layer (90-96) is formed by alternately repeating a wound-path-forming step for winding the composite strip material (26) in a first winding-advance direction and a wound-path-forming step for winding the composite strip material (26) in a second winding-advance direction opposite the first winding-advance direction.
