Abstract:
Conventionally, tires of automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, electric assist bicycles, wheel chairs, hand carts, or the like deflate after being used for about several months or go flat when traveling on bad roads, and thus low-cost tires that do not require replenishment of air and do not go flat have been demanded. In view of this, a method for manufacturing a run flat tire (20) comprises: inserting a thermally foamed and thermally cured elastomer tube (PE), which is obtained by forming thermally foamed and thermally cured elastomer in an annular shape, into an annular space (10) formed by a tire outer skin (11) and a rim (12); inserting a first bead (13) and a second bead (14) of the tire outer skin (11) into the rim (12); and then, in a state in which the first bead (13) and the second bead (14) of the tire outer skin (11) have been inserted into the rim (12), causing the thermally foamed and thermally cured elastomer tube (PE) to be thermally foamed and cured, thereby forming a thermally cured elastomer sponge tube (FE) having a shape conforming to an inner surface of the annular space (10).
