Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a silica aerogel of which the density can be controlled, and a silica aerogel manufactured thereby, and more specifically, provided is a method for manufacturing a silica aerogel of which the density can be controlled, and a silica aerogel manufactured thereby, the method involving first forming a first silica wet gel using a first water glass solution, and additionally adding a second water glass solution to form a second silica wet gel organically coupled to a base structure formed by the first silica wet gel, so as to form a silica aerogel with enhanced mechanical physical properties, thereby increasing resistance to shrinking when drying at atmospheric pressure and allowing control of silicon dioxide concentration in the first and second water glass solutions to manufacture a silica aerogel having a specific tap density.
