Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a sulfur-containing polymer, such as polyarylene sulfide. In the method, by-products of the polymerization reaction are scarce and the impact on optical properties etc. by the residue of the used catalyst is small. The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a sulfur-containing polymer by polymerizing monomer components including a disulfide compound and/or a thiol compound using a catalyst, the method being characterized in that the catalyst includes an iron-containing substance and the amount of iron included in the iron-containing substance, relative to 100 mol% of the monomer components, is 50 mol% or less.
