Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a wheel rim for a vehicle, the method comprising an ironing step in which a flat plate-like member (10A) having a nonuniform thickness is manufactured by ironing a flat plate-like material (2) using an ironing device (20) provided with a punch (26) and a die (22) which has a side surface facing the punch (26) and formed as an uneven surface (24). In the ironing step, the flat plate-like material (2) is set in the die (22) and the ironing device (20) is operated to move the punch (26) relative to the die (22). By this, while the thickness of the flat plate-like material (2) is changed by the punch (26) and the uneven surface (24) of the die (22), the flat plate-like material (2) is ironed to manufacture the flat plate-like member (10A) having a nonuniform thickness. The manufacturing method enables the flat plate-like material to have a nonuniform thickness without using a rolling device and flow forming which are conventionally used to make the thickness nonuniform.
