Title:
METHOD FOR MEASURING THERMAL DIFFUSIVITY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/046548
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention provides a method and a device that make it possible to measure thermal diffusivity with high precision. This method for measuring thermal diffusivity via cyclic heating includes the following: causing thermal waves to propagate from a cyclic-heating surface (11) of a specimen (10) towards a thermal-wave absorption surface (12) thereof; measuring a first thermal wave at said cyclic-heating surface; measuring a second thermal wave at a prescribed position (14) inside the specimen between the cyclic-heating surface and the thermal-wave absorption surface; and obtaining the thermal diffusivity of the specimen from the amplitude ratio or phase difference between the first thermal wave and the second thermal wave. A measured first thermal wave and second thermal wave from one cycle are each approximated by a trigonometric function using the method of least squares, and the thermal diffusivity of the specimen is measured from the amplitude ratio or phase difference between those trigonometric approximations.
