The present application provides a method for memory management and a related device. Memory defragmentation is actively performed on the basis of application scenarios and continuous-memory requirement prediction, so as to satisfy the requirements for continuous memory in different application scenarios, reduce the waiting time of memory allocation, and improve application running efficiency. The method comprises: a terminal device obtains a switching probability of switching from the currently run first application scenario to each of one or more second application scenarios; then determines a target continuous memory according to the continuous memory required by one or more of the one or more second application scenarios where the switching probability satisfies a preset condition; if the available continuous memory on the terminal device is less than the target continuous memory, before the terminal device switches from the first application scenario to any one of the second application scenarios, the terminal device performs memory defragmentation, so that the available continuous memory on the terminal device is greater than the target continuous memory.
