Abstract:
A method for obtaining 1,2-dichlorethane comprises the electrolysis of the 12-36 percent aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid at a temperature of 45-70 C with simultaneous supply of ethylene into the anode space. A metal of the iron group, or a compound including a metal of that group, or an alloy containing at least one of the metals of the iron group or any combination of the above substances is added to the aqueous solution of the hydrochloric acid before the electrolysis is started, so that the concentration of the ions of the metals of the iron group in the aqueous solution of the hydrochloric acid are not less than 0, 006 g-ions per litre of the said solution.
