Abstract:
The side wall of the workpiece is deformed in the direction for closing its edges. A butt-end wall with a flat central area is preliminarily formed on the thus obtained vault. The flat area is then depressed with a pressing tool inside the workpiece to form a recess, final forming of the butt-end wall being effected simultaneously by means of its outside rolling. As a result, the metal of the workpiece is forced to shift towards the bent zone of its wall, independently of the distance of that zone from the side wall, thus allowing butt-end walls and recesses of various forms to obtained in a wide range of dimensions. The end of the workpiece is preliminarily heated up to the forging temperature.
