The invention relates to the field of washing machines. Provided are a method for optimizing an arrangement of strengthening ribs of a side plate, a side plate, and a washing machine having the side plate. The invention aims to provide an optimization method for obtaining an optimal strengthening rib layout, a side plate having an improved natural frequency characteristic and high rigidity, and a washing machine having low vibration amplitude and noise. The method for optimizing an arrangement of strengthening ribs of a side plate comprises: performing modal analysis on a model of a side plate; performing topography optimization on the side plate to reinforce a rib layout and obtain an optimized side plate model having the optimal arrangement of strengthening ribs; and performing verification to determine whether the optimized side plate model meets design requirements. Applying a side plate obtained by the above method in a washing machine solves problems of insufficient static and dynamic rigidity and resonance, and effectively mitigates a problem in which distortion of a side plate occurs in a process of delivering a washing machine or when a washing machine falls over.
