Abstract:
Provided is a method for oxidizing carbon monoxide, the method including the step of oxidizing a carbon monoxide gas in a mixed gas containing the carbon monoxide gas and an oxygen gas with the oxygen gas in the mixed gas in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature of 100°C or lower, wherein the mixed gas has a hydrogen chloride concentration of less than 1 vol%, the catalyst contains a carrier containing titanium oxide having a rutile crystal form and a ruthenium-element-containing substance carried on the carrier, and the ruthenium-element-containing substance includes at least one compound selected from the group consisting of metal ruthenium and ruthenium compounds.
