Abstract:
The present invention allows some of the pixels in an area supposed to constitute a foreground to be designated by a user as pixels designated as the foreground, and estimates the color distribution of the foreground and the color distribution of a background on the basis of the color of the pixels designated as the foreground. The estimation process includes: a step for dividing the color distribution of an image into a plurality of clusters; and a step for selecting, as the color distribution of the foreground, one or more clusters having a high correlation with the pixels designated as the foreground and designated by the user from among the plurality of clusters, and selecting, as the color distribution of the background, one or more clusters having a low correlation with the pixels designated as the foreground.
