Disclosed are a method for performing handover in a wireless communication system and an apparatus therefor. Particularly, a method for performing a handover of a user equipment (UE) by a session management function (SMF) including a communication module and a process in a wireless communication system may comprise the steps of: checking whether handovers for protocol data unit (PDU) sessions of the UE may be accepted; and, if the handovers for some of the PDU sessions of the UE are accepted, only transmitting, to an access and mobility management function (AMF), information on some of the PDU sessions of the UE for which the handovers were accepted.
