Abstract:
Disclosed is a method that is for polishing a magnesium alloy plate and that can cause a stripe pattern to not be prominent and grinding burn to be difficult to arise on the surface of a magnesium alloy plate when wet polishing the surface of the magnesium alloy plate to a smooth state. Further disclosed is a magnesium alloy plate produced by means of this polishing method. The method for polishing a magnesium alloy plate is provided with a polishing step that polishes the surface of a conveyed magnesium alloy plate (P) by means of a polishing belt (1A) (polishing material) while using a polishing liquid (13). In this step, the polishing liquid (13) is sprayed towards a spray target that is at least one of the magnesium alloy plate (P) and the polishing belt (1A). At that time, the spraying is conducted in a manner so that the polishing liquid (13) moves across the entire spray target in the widthwise direction at least at the area of contact between the magnesium alloy plate (P) and the polishing belt (1A). As a result, the polishing liquid (13) is evenly spread across the entire surface of the spray target in the widthwise direction, and it is possible to mitigate the occurrence of localized differences in the wetting condition of the polishing liquid (13) in the widthwise direction.
