Abstract:
The present invention provides a measure that makes it possible to predict the effect of a pharmacotherapy on cancer including HER2-positive cancer. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for predicting the effect of a pharmacotherapy on cancer, comprising the following steps (1) and (2): (1) analyzing the methylation ratio of a cytosine residue in at least one CpG site contained in a nucleotide sequence included in a promoter region, an untranslated region or a translated region of HSD17B4 gene in a sample collected from a human subject; and (2) predicting the effect of the pharmacotherapy on cancer on the basis of the analyzed methylation ratio.
