Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a method for predicting the service life of a ball screw mechanism, said method requiring little calculation for a relatively accurate prediction, thus allowing a controller of an injection molding machine to easily predict said service life. [Solution] The operable time (Lt) of a mold clamping ball screw mechanism (24) which drives a toggle mechanism (14) of a toggle-type mold clamping apparatus (2) is predicted. Simplifying the theoretical formula on the basis of a theoretical formula expressing the service life of the ball screw mechanism, the operable time (Lt) is given as a function of one variable using the mold clamping force (KS) as the variable. The service life of the mold clamping ball screw mechanism (24) is predicted on the basis of the function of one variable. In a preferred embodiment, the function of one variable is constructed from the following exponential function: Lt = α*KSβ, where α and β are constants.
