Title:
METHOD OF PREHEATING MOLTEN METAL FILTERING APPARATUS AND MOLTEN METAL FILTERING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2006/109593
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
It is intended to reduce any temperature difference occurring between filter cartridge sites at the time of preheating of a molten metal filtering apparatus to thereby prevent microcracking of filter cartridge members, especially an end plate on melt discharge side. There is provided a method of preheating a molten metal filtering apparatus including a filter compartment for accommodating a filter cartridge equipped with multiple ceramic-made filter tubes, a melt discharge side end plate and a sealing side end plate; a melt introduction passage to the filter compartment; a melt discharge passage from the filter compartment; a heat source disposed in the filter compartment or a heater disposed on the underside of a cover for the filter compartment; and the cover for the filter compartment, in which there is carried out not only heating by means of the heater fitted to the cover for the filter compartment but also heating from the side of melt discharge side end plate by means of a heat source of the melt discharge passage, optionally together with heating by hot air introduced through an inside and outside communicating hole disposed in the cover for the filter compartment. Further, there is provided a relevant molten metal filtering apparatus.
