Abstract:
The present application relates to a method for photochlorination, and specifically to photochlorination produced by a reaction of arene compounds with gaseous chlorine so as to prepare a trichloromethyl-group-substituted benzene, and to a method using a bis-(trichloromethyl)-benzene of the trichloromethyl-group-substituted benzenes to prepare by further reaction a bis-(chloroformyl)-benzene. The advantage of the present application is that no further ingredient such as a solvent, a free radical initiator or photosensitizer is required, and that simply by controlling the conditions of the stages of the reactions, and the wavelength and intensity of the light source, the purity of the product is enhanced. The present application further relates to a method for molecular distillation of trichloromethyl-group-substituted benzene, and to a photochlorination reactor for use in photochlorination reactions (such as those of the present application).
