A method for preparing a bismuth quantum dot and a bismuth quantum dot. The preparation method comprises: (1) dispersing bismuth powders in an organic solvent to obtain a dispersion liquid; (2) performing a first water bath ultrasound on the dispersion liquid to obtain a first ultrasonic liquid; placing the first ultrasonic liquid in a closed container and heating same for 12-24 hours at a temperature of 140-200ºC; after completing reacting, cooling same to the room temperature and performing a second water bath ultrasound on the obtained reaction liquid to obtain a second ultrasonic liquid; and (3) performing low speed centrifugation on the second ultrasonic liquid at 2,000-7,000 rpm to collect a first supernatant liquid and performing high speed centrifugation on the first supernatant liquid at 9,000-12,000 rpm to collect a second supernatant liquid to obtain a bismuth quantum dot.
