Abstract:
The invention discloses a method for preparing a branched polymer at room temperature through emulsion polymerization and belongs to the field of functional polymer preparation. The method comprises the following steps: adopting an initiation system composed of a functional monomer containing a polymerizable double bond and a reducing group with an oxidant; taking water as a medium, an anionic surfactant as an emulsifier, sodium hydrogen carbonate as a pH modifier, and vinyl acetate as a monomer; and carrying out an in-situ polymerization reaction at room temperature for 10 minutes to 10 hours to successfully obtain the branched polymer, wherein the monomer conversion rate reaches 85% or higher. The method does not require an additional branching agent, and the polymerization system is simple and stable. Due to the use of commercially available, polymerizable reductant monomer, polymerization costs are greatly reduced. Operation is easy, reaction conditions are mild and impact on the environment is lessened. The reaction does not require temperature control or increased pressure. Energy consumption is low. Reaction times are short and the monomer conversion rate is high. The obtained branched polymer has a high molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution, and the degree of branching thereof is regulated within a wider range.
