Abstract:
Provided is a method for preparing a β-carotene crystal, comprising the following steps of: (1) inoculating microbial strains and fermenting with same; (2) performing solid-liquid separation on the fermentation broth to obtain wet thalli; (3) drying the wet thalli to obtain dried thalli; (4) extracting the dried thalli with an organic solvent; (5) performing solid-liquid separation to obtain an extraction liquid; (6) evaporating and crystallizing the extraction liquid to obtain a crystallization mother liquor; (7) performing solid-liquid separation on the crystallization mother liquor to obtain a crude wet crystal; and (8) washing the crude wet crystal with an organic solvent, and drying same under vacuum to obtain a β-carotene crystal, wherein in step (6), an antioxidant is added into the extraction liquid followed by evaporation and crystallization. By adding an antioxidant in some or all of the steps of drying, solid-liquid separation, and evaporation and crystallization, the loss of β-carotene in the extraction process is reduced, and the yield of β-carotene is improved. In addition, the prepared β-carotene crystal has a higher purity and better quality.
