Title:
METHOD OF PREPARING CYANURIC ACID
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1979/000566
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method of preparing cyanuric acid wherein molten urea is heated up to the temperature range of from 180 C to 300 C by the use of high-frequency dielectric heating. The molten urea may be either molten urea substantially composed of urea or molten urea which includes molten biurets. The molten urea is converted to cyanuric acid by the generation of heat caused by the dielectric loss in a high-frequency electric field. It will be noted that cyanuric acid does not generate heat. Thus, this invention eliminates the disadvantages of the conventional methods, such as poor heat transfer to the reaction system, contamination of product by raw material, excess heating of product, adhesion of product to the walls of reaction vessel and the like.
