Provided is a method for preparing a dispersion of metal-containing particles, wherein, in a solvent, a metal support obtained by supporting a metal and/or a metal compound on a support is brought into contact with a polymer protective agent having affinity for the metal and/or the metal compound to disperse the metal and/or the metal compound in the form of particles in the solvent and thereby obtain the dispersion of metal-containing particles.
