Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for preparing a furfuranol-based compound and a 2-furancarboxylic acid-based compound by reacting a furfural-based compound with the hydroxide of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal using an ionic liquid as a solvent. According to the present invention, an eco-friendly method for preparing a furfuranol-based compound and a 2-furancarboxylic acid-based compound may be provided, in which water is not used as a reaction solvent to thus prevent the generation of wastewater from the reaction, and an ionic liquid, which can be recovered and reused with ease after being used as a solvent, is used as a reaction solvent.
