Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for preparing a supermolecular- structure nano-reactor,
wherein thiols are intercalated between layers of a hydrotalcite (i.e. layered
double hydroxide or LDH) through co-precipitation or ion exchange. Said reactor
is used to oxidize thiols, for example, L-cysteine or glutathione with an oxidant,
such as aqueous hydrogen peroxide or bromine water. A single oxidation product
can be produced therefrom with increased product selectivity.
