Title:
METHOD FOR PREVENTING CATALYST LOSS IN HYDROFORMYLATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/010451
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a method whereby, in a gas circulation type hydroformylation reaction that uses a rhodium-phosphorus compound complex as a catalyst, it is possible to prevent loss of the rhodium catalyst by using an effective candle filter when stripping an aldehyde from a reactor. Loss of the rhodium catalyst is prevented in the following manner. A robust candle filter that does not break under the pressure of stripped aldehyde vapor is attached to a mist separator provided in the upper part of the reactor. Mist is almost completely captured by winding a member comprising a punching metal, a wire mesh, cotton fibers and glass fibers. An adhesive agent is not used in the filter joint. In order to prevent glass fibers used in the member from sliding down, the glass fibers are attached using a wire mesh band so as to obtain a structure capable of withstanding the force of an aldehyde-containing vapor passing through the glass fibers. The concentration of rhodium in the aldehyde generated by the reaction is 5 ppb by weight or lower.
