Abstract:

Provided is a novel method for producing a 2-(aryloxymethyl)benzaldehyde compound. Specifically, provided is a method for producing a 2-(aryloxymethyl)benzaldehyde compound represented by formula (4) and characterized by involving a step (A) in which a compound represented by formula (1) is hydrolyzed and a step (B) in which the compound obtained by means of step (A) and represented by formula (2) is reacted with a compound represented by formula (3) or a salt of said compound. (In the formulae, X1, X2 and X3 each independently represent a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom; Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom; and Ar represents a phenyl group which may have a substituent.)
