Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING 2-FURALDEHYDE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/102347
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for minimizing corrosion of a reactor device and reducing waste in the production of 2-furaldehyde from raw sugar that includes hexose as a constituent component, and addresses the problem of providing a method for producing 2-furaldehyde which minimizes decrease in the activity of a catalyst in a case where an acid catalyst is used, and has greater yield and is industrially advantageous. The present invention relates to a method for producing 2-furaldehyde, in which raw sugar having hexose as a constituent component is heated in the presence of a solid acid catalyst while in an aprotic polar solvent.
