Abstract:
Position-1 halogen can be selectively reduced by reacting a compound represented by formula (3) (in the formula, X represents a chlorine atom, bromine atom, or iodine atom) and hydrogen in the presence of a heterogeneous transition metal catalyst, and 2-(halogenomethyl)-1-methyl-3-nitrobenzene represented by formula (1) (in the formula, the symbols mean the same as is described above) can be produced.
