Abstract:
A culturing unit for performing a culture step for culturing cells in culture broth retained in a culture tank and removing the cells from the culture broth to thereby obtain a culture supernatant containing a product of the cells, and a purification unit for performing a purification step for purifying the product from the culture supernatant to thereby obtain an active pharmaceutical ingredient of a biopharmaceutical, are connected by a connecting line. The culture supernatant is allowed to flow through the connecting line from the culturing unit to the purification unit. A flexible single-use tank having a capacity of 0.2 to 10 times the volume of the culture broth in the culture tank is joined to a branch line provided between the culturing unit and the purification unit. The culture supernatant is temporarily retained in the tank.
