Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING ALKYLENE OXIDE ADDUCT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/073665
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing an alkylene oxide adduct, comprising the steps of: (A) adding an aqueous organic carboxylic acid solution to a crude alkylene oxide adduct while keeping the temperature at 90 to 130˚C inclusive to adjust the pH value of the crude alkylene oxide adduct to 5 to 7 as measured at a concentration of 5 mass% and at 25˚C, wherein the crude alkylene oxide adduct is produced by adding an alkylene oxide to a compound containing active hydrogen and/or a fatty acid alkyl ester in the presence of a solid catalyst for alkoxylation purposes; and (B) adjusting the water content in the crude alkylene oxide adduct of which the temperature is adjusted to 50 to 80˚C to 8 to 12 mass% inclusive.
According to the present invention, it becomes possible to separate and remove the catalyst and a polyalkylene glycol that is a by-product of the reaction from the alkylene oxide adduct with high efficiency.
