Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing alloy ingots involving: a step in which alloy starting materials are introduced into the cold crucible of a cold crucible-type induction melting device and a molten pool is formed from the alloy starting materials by induction heating in an atmosphere of inert gas; a step in which a first refining agent is added to the molten pool to reduce the content of at least phosphorus among the impurity elements present in the molten pool while continuing induction heating; and a step in which the melt with reduced phosphorus content is solidified to form alloy ingots. The first refining agent is a mixture of Ca metal and a flux, wherein the flux contains CaF2 with CaO and/or CaCl2. The ratio of the total weight of the CaO and CaCl2 to the weight of the CaF2 is 5-30 wt% and the ratio of the weight of the Ca metal to that of the molten pool is 0.4 wt% or more.
