Abstract:
The invention can be used for producing an aluminium-scandium foundry alloy in order to modify aluminium alloys. The inventive method involving an alluminothermal reduction in molten metal halides, is carried out by means of the reduction of halides or scandium oxide in the presence of a flux containing potassium and sodium chlorides at a temperature ranging from 800 to 1050 °C, or an alluminothermal reduction in molten metal halides performed from fluoscandate of alkaline or alkaline-earth metals in presence of a flux containing potassium and sodium chlorides at a temperature ranging from 800 to 1050 °C. In order to produce the foundry alloy, the flux, containing 10-50 mass % of the fluoscandate of alkaline or alkaline-earth metals, potassium or sodium chloride being the rest, is also used. Said invention makes it possible to improve characteristics by increasing the uniformity of texture of an alloy and to reduce the energy consumption. The inventive methods and the flux for producing the aluminium-scandium foundry alloy simplify the process of introduction of additives into a metal melt.
