Abstract:
In this method for producing anthraquinones represented by the chemical formula, at least one of R1-R8 is a hydroxyl group and at least one is an alkoxy group. The production method includes a step for preparing a starting material that is represented by the chemical formula and configured such that at least two of R1'-R8' are hydroxyl groups, and a step for reacting the starting material with an organic alkylating agent. The amount of organic alkylating agent reacted with the starting material is equal to or greater than 0.05 mol and less than n mol per mol of the starting material, where n is the number of hydroxyl groups included in the starting material.
