Abstract:
A method for producing antimony trisulfide is developed, in which the resultant antimony trisulfide contains impurities, i.e., lead, arsenic and crystalline silica, in a relatively low amount, and by which it becomes possible to produce antimony trisulfide at low cost. An antimony trioxide powder and sulfur are introduced into a reaction vessel, and subsequently the inside of the vessel is heated to cause the reaction of antimony trioxide with sulfur. Antimony trioxide can be produced through a volatile oxidizing refining process. Therefore, antimony trioxide has a small particle diameter and good reactivity, and antimony trioxide containing impurities, e.g., lead, arsenic and crystalline silica, in a small amount and therefore having high purity is readily available. Thus, antimony trisulfide containing impurities in a small amount can be produced at low cost using antimony trioxide having high purity as a raw material.
