The present invention is a method for continuously producing an aqueous acrylic acid polymer solution using an apparatus equipped with a first reactor 10, wherein the first reactor 10 is equipped with a raw material supply means 13, a stirring means 12, a first reaction vessel 11 in which a monomer comprising acrylic acid is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator and water, and a circulation pipe 20 which is arranged outside the first reaction vessel 11, connects a discharge port and an inlet port, both formed on the vessel wall of the first reaction vessel 11, to each other and can be used for the circulation of a reaction solution containing a polymer produced in the first reaction vessel 11. The circulation pipe 20 is equipped with a cooling means 25 for cooling the reaction solution, and the polymerization of the monomer and the circulation of the reaction solution are performed under such conditions that the difference between the temperature of the reaction solution at the discharge port 15 in the first reaction vessel 11 and the temperature of the cooled reaction solution at the inlet port 17 in the first reaction vessel 11 is 30ºC or more and the ratio of the volume of a liquid existing between the discharge port 15 in the first reaction vessel 11 and the cooling means 25 to the volume of a liquid existing in the first reaction vessel 11 is 0.050 by mass or less.
