Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing an aqueous carbodiimide which has excellent crosslinking reactivity with a crosslinkable group such as an alcoholic hydroxyl group of an aqueous resin. A method for producing an aqueous carbodiimide-containing liquid, which comprises: a step (1) wherein an isocyanate group-containing carbodiimide (A), a terminal blocking agent and one or more organic metal compounds that are selected from among organic titanium compounds, organic zirconium compounds and organic aluminum compounds are mixed and reacted with each other, thereby obtaining a terminally blocked carbodiimide (B) wherein the isocyanate group is blocked by the terminal blocking agent; and a step (2) wherein the terminally blocked carbodiimide (B) is dissolved or dispersed in an aqueous solvent, thereby obtaining an aqueous carbodiimide-containing liquid. The terminal blocking agent contains a hydrophilic compound (X) which has a functional group that is reactive with an isocyanate group and a hydrophilic group that is other than the functional group.
