The invention relates to the petrochemical industry, in particular to methods for producing benzene from different benzene and /or alkylbenzene-containing mixtures produced by various oil or cocking products processing. The inventive method consists in hydrodealkylating said fractions and in returning the product to a hydrodealkylation stage for recycling. A highly aromatic fraction having a high content of sulphur-containing substances, preferably not higher than 1.5 mass% of sulphur, and a C ₆-C₁₅ aromatic compositions content equal to or higher than 60 mass% is supplied to said recycling in a quantity at which a total content of sulphur-organic substances at the output of a hydrodealkylation reactor is equal or less than an admissible value which is defined by the capacities of a scheme for further desulphuration of a final product.
