Abstract:
[Problem] To make it easier to produce fuel from byproducts (palm oil byproducts) generated in the crude palm oil extraction process, and to improve, inter alia, the efficiency with which the fuel produced is transported. [Solution] A method for producing a biomass fuel provided with a washing/desalting step for performing desalting by washing the palm oil byproducts with water, a drying step for drying the washed/desalted palm oil byproducts, a pulverization step for pulverizing the dried palm oil byproducts, and a molding step for molding the pulverized palm oil byproducts. The chlorine content of the washed/desalted palm oil byproducts is preferably less than 1000 ppm, a rotary stirring continuous washing machine is preferably used in the washing/desalting step, the water content of the dried palm oil byproducts is preferably 20% by mass or less, the long fiber length of the pulverized palm oil byproducts is preferably 10 mm or less, the bulk density of the molded article obtained by the molding step is preferably 0.65 kg/L or higher, and the compressive strength of the molded article is preferably 1.5 N/mm2 or higher.
