Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method by which a target block copolymer is able to be produced at a temperature of from -5°C to 35°C. A method for producing a block copolymer according to the present invention comprises: a step (A) wherein a vinyl aromatic monomer is polymerized at a temperature of from -5°C to 35°C with use of an anionic polymerization initiator in a mixed solvent that contains an aprotic polar solvent and at least one nonpolar solvent that is selected from among methyl cyclohexane and methyl cyclopentane; a step (B) wherein a conjugated diene monomer is added and polymerized at a temperature of from -5°C to 35°C after the step (A); and if necessary, a step (C) wherein a vinyl aromatic monomer is added and polymerized at a temperature of from -5°C to 35°C after the step (B).
